Being Intentional: Bringing Our Unique Contributions and Making Connections

The conditions are set for intentionally providing delegates the time and space to develop and share their leadership thinking.

At the time of ‘putting pen to paper’ the NZEALS Bi-ennnial International Conference on 15-17 April is just eight weeks away. This event is the most widely encompassing opportunity members have to come together and intentionally contribute to enhancing our collective education and leadership practices.

The conference programme reflects and enacts our organisation’s agreed purpose of:

  • Expanding leadership thinking
  • Sharing practitioner knowledge
  • Providing access to current research
  • Publishing your own research and leadership story

The conference keynote speakers: Emeritus Professor Russell Bishop PhD ONZM - University of Waikato; Jane Wilkinson Associate Dean for Graduate Research - Monash University; Maria Cooper Senior Lecturer University of Auckland; James Renwick Professor of Physical Geography - Victoria University form an acutely knowledgeable and impressive spearhead to initiate dialogue on the over-arching theme of: A Professional Place to Stand.

The themes are unpacked further through researcher and practitioner break-out sessions with voices across all education sectors from New Zealand, Australia, U.S.A., U.K., Canada, Ethiopia, Kenya, Singapore.

We have listened to members’ feedback on what you want from NZEALS. As a result, in each of the three days there is an opportunity to meet as Whanau Groups to reflect and share key learnings and wonderings on the day’s theme. In this way the conditions are set for intentionally providing delegates the time and space to develop and share their leadership thinking.

Group bookings around several restaurants in Hamilton and the Conference Dinner at Hobbiton provide further opportunities to connect and learn more of what we each bring to grow each other’s thinking and so strengthen our organisation as a whole.

There are times in leadership to intentionally step in and times to intentionally step back. If you haven’t registered yet to be part of this experience we encourage you to step-in and make the commitment to bring your unique contribution.
