Free middle leader workshops for members

NZEALS invites you to attend, free of charge, a short workshop series that offers insights into middle and senior leadership in educational organisations, and creates a platform for your own reading and reflections on leadership. Please note that these workshops are only open to members of NZEALS.

The workshops will be online via zoom, facilitated by Jay Kedian and Sandra Jenkins, both of whom are experienced leaders and workshop facilitators.

These workshops are intended as an introduction, to assist your professional development by sharing informed opinion about leading, and creating leadership networks. By participating in this brief series you are likely to meet a number of other middle leaders, some of whom may well become part of your leadership network.

The workshops will run for three consecutive weeks - 22nd February, 1st March and 8th March - from 4.30 to 5.30 pm. See you there!

Workshop 1 Tues 22nd February 4.30 – 5.30

So what’s it all about?

This session offers an opportunity to share personal stories of highly effective leadership – and less positive stories - from participants’ professional experiences.

It is likely to demonstrate the contextual nature of leadership as we begin to develop a shared understanding of some of the core elements of leading in education.

Workshop 2 Tues 1st March 4.30 – 5.30

During this session we will explore some of the theoretical underpinnings of leadership that are useful in creating a personal leadership platform that supports your leadership activities. How do you perceive leadership? Do you have a preferred leadership style?

Is there a single, most effective leadership style? What part does context play in the way you lead?

Workshop 3 Tues 8th March 4.30 – 5.30

As a middle leader, what impact can you have on your organisation’s overall leadership activities and performance? Are you simply an administrator? What can you do that will make a difference, and perhaps enhance your career prospects?
