Abstract

This facilitated conversation among the members of the NZEALS whanau revolves around the ideas and concepts of Critical Hope (Preskill & Brookfield, 2009) and others with the goal of understanding and unpacking Critical Hope as a tool and resource to help leaders lead their organizations with optimism. Participants will work, talk, and collaborate in small groups with graphic organizers around key ideas and themes in the area of Critical Hope with the ultimate outcome of providing feedback on a Critical Hope Scale in development.

Biography

Toby Holmes

Dr. William T. “Toby” Holmes is an Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership at Kansas State University, USA. Dr. Holmes is a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, primarily focused on research and teaching in leadership communication, motivating language theory, culturally sustaining instructional leadership, and the rural superintendency. He is a frequent presenter at NZEALS and published author in JELPP with articles on Culturally Sustaining Instructional Leadership and Cowboy Epistemology.
