Conference 2026-Call for Papers

NZEALS 2026

Ka mua, ka muri: Honouring the past, embracing the present, designing the future

At NZEALS we believe that it is important for education leaders to connect with people and ideas in the same space, and to reflect on their own leadership experiences by sharing them with others from across education sectors. This is an opportunity for your research, experience and reflections to be shared, within the conference themes of:

  • Honoring the Past
  • Embracing the present
  • Designing for the Future

We want our delegates to walk away from the ocnference with a sense of hope and optimism for educational leaderhsip.

You are invited to submit an abstract or outline for a breakout group session held at Oaks Hotel, Wellington. These sessions may take a range of formats, lasting around 50 minutes, designed to enable attendees to participate, debate and enhance their understandings of leadership in education. Formats include:

  • Papers presenting formally or informally undertaken research on an aspect of educational leadership
  • Leadership stories presented by a single person or a group
  • Workshops or facilitated discussions exploring leadership issues, dilemmas, challenges and ways forward

M. All presentations therefore should in some regard contribute to the concepts of the therme of the conference.

Presenters should aim to engage fellow delegates in thoughtful discussion: attending this conference is part of a leadership journey for us all.

We particularly welcome contributions by emerging researchers, new leaders, and middle leaders across the education sector.

Ka mua, ka muri.

All our breakout sessions are now full.

Further submissions may be made up to February 5th.  These submissions will be refereed, and if successful will be placed on a waiting list. If a presenter needs to withdraw, we will contact people on the waiting list to take their place. They will be issued a special code to enable registration at the earlybird price.
