Tēnā koutou katoa
We are on the home straight to the end of the year and time for a well-earned rest after the ‘annus horribilis’ year we have encountered.
An article popped up on Facebook the other day from Nathan Wallis, New Zealand’s brain development guru, on the power of unadulterated play on children’s learning and development. This sparked my thinking on how much ‘play’ have we engaged in over the past months. Our brains need a rest to recalibrate from the stress, anxiety and over work Covid 19 has bought to our world.
Over the summer break I urge you to ‘play’. Play with family, tinker with something that fascinates you and play with friends. Most of all focus on the positives. The healing powers of ‘play’ and positive thinking are unlimited.
This final issue of Leading Lights for the year is a ‘bumper issue’ with many thought provoking articles from practitioners and academics. You will hear from leaders and what they are saying, thoughts inspired by Apollo 13, an article on One’s Leadership, a reset on the future thanks to the Pandemic and much more. You will need a long coffee for this issue!
From all at NZEALS we wish you a wonderful last term, a restful Christmas and a well-deserved break.
Na mihi nui
