Larraine Tuaputa with the Brother rep at the Conference

Brother printer for our centre!

Reflecting on the NZEALS Conference

Article by   Bridgette Towle

We went to the NZEALS Conference and came home filled with inspiration, ideas and thoughts for reflection, AND with a new Brother printer! This unexpected win topped off a fantastic few days where we listened to inspiring speakers covering a range of topics with a core focus on ethical and cultural leadership. A highlight was the talented musicians starting off our days, and the fun tour and dinner at Hobbiton!

As early childhood educators, we found it extremely interesting listening to different leadership stories and to have the opportunity to kōrero with fellow leaders and educators from across the wider education sector. We were able to make meaningful connections to our own context and, gained a strong sense that it is not just what we do as individual leaders that makes a difference, but what we do collectively and cohesively to ensure sustainable change. We have been left with much to think about and to actively pursue as we continually focus on strengthening mana and leaderfulness in our learning community. Thank you NZEALS (and Brother for the printer!).

Thanks again for the Conference and all the mahi the NZEALS Committee put in to organising it – we really enjoyed it and look forward to the next one.
