NZEALS 2024 MAHI TOI I MAHI TAHI
Do the work - Get the rewards!

This is a call for papers for the NZEALS 2024 conference Mahi toi | Mahi tahi. This will be held on September 16 – 18 2024 in the vibrant southern city of Ōtautahi Christchurch, New Zealand.

At NZEALS we believe that it is important for education leaders to connect with people and ideas in the same space, and to reflect on their own leadership experiences by sharing them with others from across education sectors. This is an opportunity for your research, experience and reflections to be shared, within the conference themes of:

  • Leading well
  • Leading together
  • Leading with optimism

You are invited to submit an abstract or outline for a breakout group session held within the inspiring venue of Christchurch City Library, Tūranga. These sessions may take a range of formats, lasting around 50 minutes, designed to enable attendees to participate, debate and enhance their understandings of leadership in education. Formats include:

  • Papers presenting formally or informally undertaken research
  • Leadership stories presented by a single person or a group
  • Workshops or facilitated discussions exploring leadership issues, dilemmas, challenges and ways forward

Mahi Toi | Mahi Tahi

The conference theme has been gifted to the organising committee and captures the idea that when we work well together and with optimism we will reap the rewards. All presentations therefore should in some regard contribute to the concepts of Leading well, Leading together or Leading with optimism. Presenters should aim to engage fellow delegates in thoughtful discussion: attending this conference is part of a leadership journey for us all. We particularly welcome contributions by emerging researchers, new leaders, and middle leaders across the education sector.

Ōtautahi Christchurch is located on Ngai Tahu land and has rebuilt as a vibrant, modern hub for the South Island since the devastating earthquakes. The city itself represents ‘leading well, leading together, and leading with optimism’, and is a fitting location for education leaders to come together for reflection and restoration.

Please submit your proposal through this link. You will be informed about acceptance within a month of your submission. Submissions will close on 1st May 2024.

Registration for this conference is now open. Go to the Conference page for further information, including registration fees and keynote speakers. Earlybird registration closes on 31st May.

For enquiries, please contact the NZEALS Secretary.

We look forward to meeting you in Christchurch and sharing your leadership journey.
